A global advocacy day dedicated to increasing awareness and understanding about the importance of handwashing with soap as an effective and affordable way to prevent diseases and save lives.

Further Description / Program

Global Handwashing Day is an opportunity to design, test, and replicate creative ways to encourage people to wash their hands with soap at critical times.

The theme for Global Handwashing Day 2019 focuses on leaving no one behind in our handwashing advocacy. Our tagline, ‘clean hands for all’, reminds us to ensure handwashing initiatives are equitable and inclusive.

The project database contains nearly 400 sanitation projects of many different organizations dealing with research, implementation, advocacy, capacity development etc. Advanced filtering functions and a global map are also available. Information on how and why this database was created is here.
